Rev. Barry Dundas began serving FUMC in July of 2019. A native of Hutchinson, Kansas he graduated from Southwestern College of Winfield, Kansas in 1989 with a B.A in religion. After serving Mulvane UMC as a Youth Director he attended Saint Paul School of Theology earning his M.Div. in 1997 and serving as the Campus Minister at Washburn University. Barry has served churches in Auburn, KS; Wichita, KS; and Salina, KS before coming to Manhattan. He is married to Diana and has two adult children, Kyle Dundas and Amy Tighe.
Barry has a deep love for the church and believes it has the resources to transform lives and the world. His passions are creating vibrant meaningful worship, developing faithful disciples, and leading the church in life changing mission.
Barry's favorite Bible verse is Micah 6:8: He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
In his free time, he loves attending sporting events, playing tennis or golf, watching a good movie and traveling with his family.
Rev. Sarah Marsh is a native Kansan who was raised in the United Methodist Church in Halstead, just north of Wichita. She graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois with a B.A. in English in 2000, and from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey with an M.Div. in 2007. She was ordained an elder in the United Methodist Church in 2010 and received into full membership with the Kansas West Annual Conference.
Rev. Marsh began her ministry as an associate pastor at College Hill UMC in Wichita in 2007. In 2011, she was called to serve Tecumseh UMC where her involvement with the Topeka Justice and Unity Ministry Project led her deep into community ministry and resulted in a move to Lawrence to work with the organization Justice Matters.
On the annual conference level, Rev. Marsh currently chairs the Great Plains’ Mercy and Justice Team. In addition to her ministry within the UMC, Sarah has lived out a call to be in relationship with the children of Pimpollo Broetje Ciudad de los Ninos (a home for children in southern Mexico) since 2001.
Sarah is a proud aunt, Godmother, and self-proclaimed grandmother to many on both sides of the border. She loves travel, poetry, and the sunshine and flowers of her garden.
Rev. Melanie Nord has been a pastor at FUMC since July, 2012. Melanie is a life-long Kansan and a graduate of Kansas State University. She graduated with her Master in Divinity at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL. At FUMC, Melanie leads the community care and support efforts. She helps facilitate group and community opportunities virtually, at FUMC and at Manhattan retirement and rehabilitation facilities. She also manages the "Slow Spirit Sanctuary" virtual space which helps people in their soul care and wellness journey. She is passionate about Bible literacy, Spiritual/Religious Trauma and inclusion.
Pastor Chelsea was appointed on July 1, 2017 to be the Director of Wesley Campus Ministry at Kansas State University and is also serving part time at FUMC, working with college aged students and young professionals. Chelsea is from Pratt, KS and a graduate of K-State (BS in Animal Science and Industry, 2009). In May 2017, Chelsea graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL with a Master of Divinity.
Chelsea has a passion for people, justice, and stewarding God's good creation. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outside, and world travels (especially to South Africa).
Chelsea's favorite Bible verse is John 1:5: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it".
Mary Jane grew up in a strong United Methodist family in Guymon, Oklahoma. While attending Oklahoma State University she met Jim Adams who became her husband in 1972. Mary Jane went onto complete here Music Education Degree at Benedictine College in 1975. In 1988 Jim, Mary Jane, and their children, Abbie and Jason, moved to Manhattan and joined FUMC. During the fall of 1994 Mary Jane became director of the newly formed Morning Glory adult vocal choir which sang at the early traditional service. Upon the
retirement of the Music coordinator camp; Chancel Choir director, Paul Brown, Mary Jane was hired as the Music Coordinator. In 2008 Mary Jane began working in the church office as the Assistant Church Administrator which eventually transitioned into the full time Church Administrator position.
In her spare time Mary Jane enjoys attending K-State football camp; basketball games and visiting 3 grandboys in Texas as much as time will allow.
Jeff moved to Manhattan in June of 2019 so his wife Amy could join the practice at Stonecreek Family Physicians. Jeff and Amy have two sons: Elijah and Spenser. Elijah loves animals, reading, and music while Spenser enjoys sports, video games, and cooking.
Jeff began working as a volunteer in youth ministry while attending college at the University of Kansas. From 2003-2006 he served as youth director for Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca, MN. When the family moved back to Kansas he became the youth director at the Neodesha United Methodist Church from 2006-2019. In 2010 he earned a Master of Arts in Specialized Ministry with a youth ministry focus from Southwestern College.
Jeff is passionate about youth ministry and truly feel it is what God has called him to do. He is grateful for opportunity to serve the Lord, our youth and their families at FUMC.
Courtney joined the FUMC staff in 2017 as the part time Program Coordinator of Children and Familiy Ministires and moved into the full time job of Director of Children and Family Ministries in 2018 after being a faithful volunteer.
Courtney and her husband, John, grew up in Oklahoma. They have lived in Manhattan since 1999. They have two adult daughters. Courtney's favorite thing to do is spend time with family. She also likes: to read; go for a run; do crossword puzzles; the Chicago Cubs; being outdoors; and her two dogs, Bella and Gracie.
Courtney also loves hanging out with kids! They bring her great joy and give her energy. She wants to help them know how much God loves them and show them His love in everything she does in her ministry with them. Courtney believes everyone would be happier with young children and a pet in their lives. Both are beautiful examples of God's unconditional love and grace.
Cathlene is a Manhattan native and a member of FUMC since 2001. She and her husband, Eric, have three children; Dylan, and twins, Hannah and Tyler.
Cathlene volunteered in the children’s and youth ministries for 10 years before becoming the Youth Director in 2017. In 2020, Cathlene took on a new position as the Connections Coordinator to welcome new people into the church and support ministries that connect people together.
Her favorite season is winter and would like to see snow on the ground from December to February. She enjoys books, technology, music, coffee, and socializing with anyone. Cathlene enjoys traveling and finding new adventures. Her favorite Bible verse is James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
As church Sexton, Nancy does the cleaning of the church, and is a finder extraordinaire. If she can't find it, it doesn't exist at FUMC. She has been an employee since 2000 and a member since 2012.
Nancy has been married to Don since 1973. They have two children, Jennifer & husband Dave Klingele (children Cadie, Joselyn & Zach), and Michael (deceased) & wife Kara (children Melanie, Ashlyn & Bryton). In addition to working for FUMC, she is the bookkeeper for Holmes Cleaning Services, Inc., which specializes in carpet cleaning and water damage restoration. Nancy and Don live in the country and she always has the dirtiest vehicle in the FUMC parking lot. They also have a McCaw named Sherlock, an Amazon named Joey, and 7 unnamed parakeets.
The Director of Weekday Early Education is responsible for the operation of First United Methodist Preschool & Children's Day Out, a program serving families in our community as a weekday ministry to children ages 1 to 5 years.
Lindsay has been a member since 2014. She has been married to Travis since 2006. They have two young children.

Deanna has been the Communications Coordinator at FUMC since November, 2012 and a member since 2004. She and her husband Ryan have a son born in April, 2004.
Deanna loves 80's music, and her mind is filled mostly with these lyrics and movie lines. She has always wanted to have red hair.
Ryan began as the kitchen coordinator and the chef for the Wednesday Community Meal in December, 2015 and has been a member of FUMC since 2004. Ryan is also the cook for the monthly United Methodist Men's breakfast. He is also employed as a baker at Hy-Vee and has been with the company since 2010.
Clerical assistant does all printing of newsletter, bulletins letters, etc. and other duties around the office and church.
Judy has been a member since 1975 and an employee since 1984. She is also the Director of "Toys for Manhattan," a community program which receives donated toys and other items at Christmas and allows families to shop for presents for free. She also works for Ahearn Hospitality at KSU. She has been married to her husband, Bill, since 1991.
Doug started working at FUMC in 2015 as our Buildings Supervisor after retiring from Kansas State University in the Facilities Maintenance Department. Additionally, he taught welding and mechanics at Manhattan Vocational Technical School. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors fishing, building and racing drag race cars (winning 7 national events!), and woodworking - although he prefers working with metal more. He is married to Debbie Register and they have 5 children between the two of them and have been graced them with 10 grandchildren and many more great-great grandchildren.
George is in charge of cleaning and taking care of the church in the evenings on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. George's wife is Arlene.
Amy Rosine has been director of the Chancel Choir since 2010. Prior to that she directed adult, youth and children's choirs in Missouri and Texas. She is on the faculty of Kansas State University where she teaches Applied Voice, Vocal Techniques and is the vocal director for the musical productions. She is a member of the Fellowship of United Methodist Music and Worship Artists.
In her free time Amy loves reading, gardening and being with her husband, two children, and their pets.
The Wedding Coordinator meets with the engaged couple, acts as the liaison between the families and the church, and coordinates details the day of the wedding.
Michele has been a member of FUMC since her family moved to Manhattan in 2016. She currently works at Manhattan Arts Center as the Education & Marketing Director, allowing her to be just a small part of the great arts scene in Manhattan.
She previously worked at Westminster United Methodist Church in Kinston, NC as the church's Administrative Assistant and she was an active member at St. James United Methodist in Greenville, NC, singing in the choir, serving as Altar Guild Chair, and teaching Confirmation Class, Vacation Bible School, and elementary Sunday school.
Michele's hobbies include music, books, travel, and a mild obsession with old houses. Michele has been married to Jeff since 1998 and they have two children, Andrew and Emily.
Jody joined the music team as organist at FUMC in 2019. She and her husband Devin and their two young children live in Wamego.
In 2017, Jody completed her Master of Music in Organ Performance at KU. She has been an organist and church musician since 2005 and has enjoyed performing, accompanying, singing, and directing adult and children's choirs. She particularly loves collaborating with other musicians when possible.
Throughout her studies Jody has had the privilege of studying with Dr. Michael Bauer, Dr. James Higdon, Dr. Kevin Vogt, and Dr. Norma Stevlingson. Jody also enjoys dabbling in composition and improvisation.
